Final Course Reflection
Final Course Reflection-
During this class I learned that creativity isn't just painting or crafting. I learned that creativity is the way you look at things and what you do with it. Most peoples creativity is shaped by events and personal experiences others are shaped by interests and hobbies. I learned that my creative style is heavily influenced by my family. Most of what I do has been done by my parents. They inspired me to try the hobbies that I do.
Seminar has helped me learn that my work habits tend to be organized. I like to have a plan and rough draft before submitting final work. I usually don't venture far from what I know. This class has helped me expand my boundaries. For me, when completing large projects everything must be perfect. My process goes something like this...
1. Make a plan I my head
2. Write it down and edit it
3. Make a model on my iPad drawing app
4. Tweak the model
5. Make rough draft
6. Have someone look it over or just wait a day before coming back to it
7. Make final edits
8. Submit
By following this process I have learned I have great success. I follow this not only for large project but also for smaller work. When I do smaller assignments I tend to skip the drawing part and go a little quicker.
I learned that working in a group isn't the end of the world. Before this course I hated working in groups. I felt that when I could work alone it would be easier to take full responsibility for my grades. I also felt like I knew that I could work hard and get A's. In my previous schools when working in group projects I always did all fo the work. I was more exited to do school and my peers took advantage of that and let me do it all just for a group grade. I learned in this course and in other classes that this community is made up of people who contribute and like to work together. I have slowly started to like group projects and I owe most of that to seminar.
Things in this course that challenged me were times when I had to be vulnerable and embarrass myself a little bit. I mainly snuggled during the improv section of the course. I found it hard to come up with things on the fly without second guessing myself and feeling embarrassed. I found it difficult to work in groups at first but started to like it better as the course went on.
I enjoyed everything about this course. Although at times I was pushed I still enjoyed it. I think this course helped me to expand who I am as a person and helped me to grow more comfortable with things such as improv. I was engaged for most of the class but found the nature walks exceptionally interesting.
Like I mentioned before this course has helped me change a TON. I've gotten more comfortable doing things that aren't what I'm used to. At the beginning of this semester I was very hesitant. One example is the lego sculpture we made. A lot of kids made some abstract/crazy sculptures. I made a simple swimming pool. I was to scared to venture farther. When doing most of the assignments we had I played it safe. Now my ideas are much more advanced. While I could still get even better at thinking outside the box I have grown. My final manifesto is an idea that is different for me and pushes me to do more work for a better outcome.
I learned that I am a very organized person. I also learned I am heavily attached to my hobbies. I use them for inspiration. I learned that I wasn't very inspired and that's why it might have seemed like I wasn't "creative". I am discovering that as a student I love to have a direct set of steps and rules to follow. The final manifesto was challenging for me because there wasn't a specific thing I needed to make. I got to actually use my ideas to come up with my manifesto.
This class has taught me so much about myself and how I learn and think that I can apply it to life and classes al the time. I am learning so much about the outcome when I take a risk and share my ideas. I can apply this to other classes but also life beyond school. Overall, this course has helped me grow as a person. I learned about my creativity and I can apply everything I learned to life later on.
