Creative Writing Explorations

Write a Poetic Recipe or Spell for Creativity- Creativity could start from waste With a big amount of passion And some good taste Who knows you might make the next fashion Choose a word that is overused in media, a word that annoys you or that you dislike. Write a poem about it or write it a break-up letter- "Groundbreaking" we're just not working. You're too overused. "Groundbreaking" is not the latest luxury apartments being built. You don't seem to get it. Way to often you make something small seem bigger than it is. Something really "groundbreaking" was the discovery of murder hornets, or the start of covid never mind the new strain! That's why I'm over you "groundbreaking". You need to find something actually big.

Fashion Designer and Chef

Virgilio Martinez- I am fascinated by how Virgilio approaches food because often you don't connect being outside and dirty with food. I think it's interesting how he has pulled the nature into his food. I think his creativity comes from what he sees more than how it tastes in the end.  Grant Achatz- Grant has an abstract view on food and what he does. I get a sense he never wants to be "done" making types of food. He has a wide variety of things that inspire him. It seems like he is more of a team worker than Virgilio and enjoys having a vast staff to help him come up with new ideas. I also get the sense his food tastes better because its less of a sculpture. I think he takes a little less time to make the food look perfect. Thom Browne- Thom has the most unique style I have ever seen. I think his inspiration comes from the finished product. It seems like he doesn't care for the sketching part that much. I think he also is inspired to create a unisex clothing li...

Lego Lighting Activity

Image
These are some of the different photos I took in class. The blue represents a sad sort of mood, the deep red represents an evil scene, and the green represents a  mischievous scene. I feel like the green shows an impending evil kind of thing.      The drawing I made also features a lego. In class someone said that a certain lighting reminded them of a an inner angel and devil moment. I decided to make that as a lego scene. My thought process was if I got two flashlights and shined them on the "angel and devil" it wouldn't highlight the center lego as much. That way I could change the color infant of my flashlight so that the devil was spotlighted in red and the angel in a whitish color. I think this would represent when a character has an inner thought process moment. Although I don't know if this is an emotional feel I definitely think that it is something a comes up in a lot of plays, books, movies, etc.

Twyla Tharp creative autobiography

What is the first creative moment you remember? When I used to play a game where I had a bunch of pictures and I had to make a story out of it. Was anyone there to witness or appreciate it? My sister What is the best idea you've ever had? To switch places with my sister for a day. What made it great in your mind? I wanted to see if people could actually tell me and margo apart. What is the dumbest idea? To sneak my phone into my room at night. What made it stupid? I got caught and was in trouble. Can you connect the dots that led you to this idea? I was really bored and not tired. What is your creative ambition? I wan't to continue to play the violin better. What are the obstacles to this ambition? The fact I'm just  starting out. What are the vital steps to achieving this ambition? 1. Practice 2. Try my best 3. Come to every Chamber Orchestra meeting 4. Track my progress How do you begin your day? I wake up an hour before class, brush my teeth, get changed, pack my bag, ...

DAT Creativity Homework

The DAT test relates to the little prince activity because it pushes you to think outside the box. There are many different ways to look at both the drawing and test. I have never taken the Torrance test so I can't connect to that. However, the little prince activity pushes you to either make a more advanced drawing and then use your creative skills to manipulate the lines and turn it into a more simplistic shape, it can also push you to make a random shape and find the second drawing through the lines and curves. This can connect to the DAT test because you are also manipulating things. However, you are working with words. On the test (at least how I did it) I tried to find something that was completely random when compared to the word above and below it. This is similar to the little prince activity because in both you are manipulating something to create something else.

Egg Movment

When I did my egg movement I started off as small as possible and then expanded for each number count. In the end I went from a tiny ball to a  blob kind of shape. In further detail I started count 1 by staying in my first form, then on count 2 I spread my arms out, count 3 I expanded my legs, count for I rolled onto my back, count 5 I spread my legs and arms as far out as possible. I would call this egg movement "The Blob". There really isn't much to it and as far as the shape my body made it was just a splat or a blob.

Datecreativity Test Reflection

When taking the creativity test I felt like I wasn't being all that creative. I just thought of some random words, it  didn't feel creative. I think the test isn't a good measure of creativity. Instead I think it better measures ability to think outside the box. Some people might think that thinking outside the box is the definition of creativity. However, I think creativity has more components to it. I think creativity is when some uses their skills to make something from nothing. I feel like the creativity test is just words not something creatively created. Overall, I think the test was a poor reflection of my creativity and others creativity. I also think it was a better measure of peoples ability to pull random ideas on the spot.

"Walking the Space" Blog Post

  1) something interesting you noticed for 4 of the 5 senses Something interesting I noticed for all of my boxes was that I heard people talking. I also noticed that the smells where different for every place we wen't. For example, in the blackbox theatre I said it smelled like people perfume but in the hallway I said it smelled like pool chlorine. One interesting I saw was the contrast of brightness from each lace we want to. One example is when we were in the theatre I recorded that it was bright, from the lighting. However, after going outside, when we came back in I recorded that it was darker in the black box theatre. I found this interesting because my definition of bright changed after moving to an outside environment. Finally, for the my touch sense I added what everything felt like on my feet. This was different for every place. Outside I said it felt wet from the grass but if I were to record what it felt like again I would say dry, because the dew dried up. I found this ...

Words to describe my collection- Small Different Personal Inspiring Description of words-     I choose to use the word "small" to describe my collection because while my collection is not large I also have a limited list of things that inspire me. I used "different" because my items each represent separate things I like to do. I choose "personal" for a similar reason. I chose it because the items are strong representations of things that make up my life. for example, the ice hockey image represents my favorite sport that I play all the time. The award stands for my strong love of academic related topics. And the book shows how I LOVE to read in my spare time. Finally, I choose inspiring because these items inspire me to keep doing what I love. The hockey image pushes me to stay athletic, the award shows me how trying hard in school pays off, and the book represents how reading opens my eyes to different topics I would have never known about if I didn...
