"Silent Walk" Reflection

Image
From Part A I chose two photos that represent the song "Vianne Sets Up Shop" from the film "Chocolat". It is by Rachel Portman. The song is bouncy and happy. I used it to represent yellow. https://open.spotify.com/track/2vPalVURlUvEwv4xsLGbEM?si=e7dc7f294cac4af5 I choose this image because the bottom cloud in the middle looks like a person dancing sort of like a freestyle flow dance. I decided to name this one The Dancer. I choose this image because the sun makes it look like a person with their hands extended. This gives me a happy welcoming vibe. I named this one The Hugger. The next song I choose was "Where is my Mind" by Javi Lobe. I used it to represent a calm feeling. When walking to this song I found more down to earth in a sense shapes. They were more mellow. In this image I see a heart. It could also look like a person making that sort of heart shape. I named it Heart Blob. In this image I saw a person laying down with their legs and arms out inf...

Reflection on Blog Images

Include  photos of your final creation, your moodboard, your research sketches, your concept illustration, and the process of building your creation (include tid bits about the process) This was the moodboard I made inspired by the yellows and oranges of the nature walk. This was my final drawing. Although slightly different it captures the shape of my basket. It also shows how my last drawing was a purse instead of basket. This is a very rough draft of what I wanted the shoe to look like. I wanted to capture the butterfly and life I saw on the nature walk. The butterfly wing was a symbol I wanted that is why I have a butterfly charm on the basket. This is another rough draft. In this the purse was made to look entirely like a butterfly. Again I really wanted to capture the life element of the nature I saw.

Reflection - On Blog

Write about your process from the original walk around CA campus to your final creation.   -Explain where you got the most information -where you got stuck or frustrated -how did your partner artist help you -if your final creation was what you set out to do originally -Include your thoughts about your critique -if you made the second iteration of your creation, what would you change?  (minimum 100 words)      I got the most information from the nature walk. During this walk I had time to reflect on what I wanted to make and focus on. I ended up realizing I wanted to highlight pops of color as well as a natural look. I got stuck/ frustrated when it came time to choose what to make. At first I thought I would want to make a pair of boots. Then I realized it didn't quite fully represent what I wanted. I then thought I would do a purse. I realized that I liked the shape of a purse and something you could walk around with but there wasn't enough nature t...

Moodboard Project Critiques

Image
Sofia- I think the color scheme is really good and ties her moldboard to the hat. I feel like the lace color takes away from the cowboy hat idea. Still, I love the hats look. Next time maybe she could find a more leathery base. The orange glow of the light ties exactly to our nature walk. I noticed the color orange a lot as well. I think it is important to recognize the work put into this piece. Seeing it transition from a cardboard layout to this was insane. Flora- The roses and vine thing on the top work very well in capturing a nature look. I can connect to the soul of nature part that was talked about in class. I think the same way sometimes. The idea of plants having their own soul is shown in this piece as the candle represents this. The vine rope makes it functional. I think the flower material could be adjusted so that is a candle drips on them they won't catch on fire. I think it is important to notice the rope design on the cup. It could be overlooked but I think it tie...

Mood-board Explanation

Image
When making my mood-board I hoped to create a happy tone. I did this by including the color yellow as well as a newspaper white color. The artist I was inspired by was Elliot Porter. Porter was a photographer know for his richly colored nature based photos. I took the idea of nature photos as well as rich colors. However, all of my colors pop and are different. I wanted to convey this so I cut out the word "pop". I then added the photos as a dress because I wanted to show how my photos could be turned into anything. This connects back to my project.
