Two Quotes from Articles and Books
IN CLASS: read the two articles in description and peruse any two of the books in the classroom. Find two quotes from each source that can apply to your own creativity and could be used in your manifesto project. Post your quotes on your blog and here.
Inc.com- "Sometimes you find the best things on Twitter. Not often, but when you do, it's worth sharing." I choose this quote because if you look at it beyond the sharing Tweets part you can apply it to real life. Sometimes it is worth it to share an idea, post, etc.
"But somewhere along the way, people lose the sense of wonder that comes with creating something. We spend a lot of time following instructions, and not much time being creative." This quote spoke to me. It spoke to me because I feel like I am uptight sometimes and forget about the creative side to things. I could benefit from this.
99designs.com- "So creativity is a skill that is specific to an individual. For some people, it might seem to come naturally, but it is something that anyone can improve at if they give it the time and effort." This quote shows how being creative shouldn't be the same as everyone else's creativeness. You should use your own experiences and own memories to form creativity.
"Forget left vs. right brained, it’s all about the networks." This quote highlights not only the left and right brain theory but also the idea of thinking outside of the box to try and understand how people work. This sentence shows creativity!
Creative Confidence by Tom Kelley and David Kelley- "Finding the sweet spot of feasibility, viability, and desirability." (Page 19). The quote shows how there needs to be a balance between everything. No one thing should be weighing the most on your mental "scale".
"The salience network let’s you identify when things you have buried deep in your brain are salient to the world around you (e.g. you’re going for a hike and taking in the scenery, and you notice this plant… realize it looks familiar… and that it’s poison ivy! And you just saved yourself from a terrible itchy rash.):" I only choose this quote because I find it very interesting and it stands out.
Daily Rituals Women at Work by Mason Currey- "By nature a rebel who hated restrictions of any kind, she did not think well between walls." (Page 33). I find this quote so inspiring. It teals about a women who is embowered to sort of rebel and be different. I strive to be like that.
"An illustration from Louisa May Alcott's Little Women, depicting Jo in her "Scribbling suit"". (Page 51). I choose this because the image above it shows how Jo is so intone with her creative side that she even has a "scribbling suit". I think it's cute
