Moodboard Project Critiques
Sofia-
I think the color scheme is really good and ties her moldboard to the hat. I feel like the lace color takes away from the cowboy hat idea. Still, I love the hats look. Next time maybe she could find a more leathery base. The orange glow of the light ties exactly to our nature walk. I noticed the color orange a lot as well. I think it is important to recognize the work put into this piece. Seeing it transition from a cardboard layout to this was insane.
The roses and vine thing on the top work very well in capturing a nature look. I can connect to the soul of nature part that was talked about in class. I think the same way sometimes. The idea of plants having their own soul is shown in this piece as the candle represents this. The vine rope makes it functional. I think the flower material could be adjusted so that is a candle drips on them they won't catch on fire. I think it is important to notice the rope design on the cup. It could be overlooked but I think it ties into her moldboard very well.
This doll inspired by the cross between life and death connects to Niamh's theme of climate and world issues. I can see how the line between healthy nature and death is thin (If that makes sense). I think the doll works very well with drawing your eye to the flowers. My eye is also drawn to the bones. I think next time the seam between the top and bottom could be adjusted to create a more seamless look. I also think it's important to recognize how most of the doll is make from scratch!
I think Jack's trashcan is a good representation of things we saw on our nature walk. Although it's not sketched in high detail I can see where this idea came from. I can connect to his view on seeing trash on our walk as I did too and even had to move some to get a shot of a plant/flower. I think if this where to be revamped it could use more of a background and could be painted in greater detail with a design that fits more. It is definitely important to notice how Jack made the top of the can to make it an actually functioning trash can. It could use a bottom though.
